IMPORTANT NOTE: Not all routers are compatible for VoIP as some routers can disrupt the traffic coming through them, which affects the phones abilities to correctly route VoIP traffic, this can lead to poor quality VoIP, calls breaking up or even cutting off.

You need to ensure that your router is an ADSL modem / router

To check that your router is compatible please see a list of those routers we recommend:

Routers compatible for VoIP:

  • Technicolor TG582n PRO or the TG589n
  • Technicolor TG588v2ADSL/VDSL Router
  • ASUS DSL-AC55U N600 Dual-Band Wireless ADSL Modem Router
  • Cisco RV042(G) / RV082 / RV016 / RV110W / RV180W / RV320
  • Cisco Integrated Services Routers (1900/2900/3900 series)
  • Draytek 2830 / 2820 series
  • ZyXEL range
  • Linksys by Cisco ADSL and cable routers
  • TP Link

Routers that are not recommended for VoIP:

  • Virgin Super Hubs (stealth-update of the firmware by the ISP can break some settings) sometimes have to use bridge to get around it
  • BT HomeHub (stealth-update of the firmware by the ISP can break some settings) also prior to version 6, SIP ALG was enabled and there was no way of disabling this setting.
  • Sky routers - they are pre-configured hence why you cannot change settings for VoIP
  • FritzBox
  • Belkin

The above incompatible routers do not always allow for the disabling of SIP ALG (dependent on the model) which is essential for VoIP.

If your router is not mentioned on this list then please contact our support desk with the make and model of your router.
